The European Parliament “Region” of the East of England, comprises six historic Counties.

  • Seven MEPs are elected every five years on a Party “list” system.
  • Seats are allocated according to the number of votes each PARTY gets.
  • In June 2014 3 Conservatives, 3 UKIP and 1 Labour MEP were elected.John was 4th on the Conservative Party list.
  • In July 2017 John was returned as an MEP upon the resignation of Vicky Ford MEP, who had been elected as MP for Chelmsford.
  • In the 2016 referendum 3,328,983 people voted in the East of England.
  • 56.3% voted to LEAVE and 43.5% Voted to REMAIN.
  • That was a majority to LEAVE of approaching half a million voters.
