The European Parliament “Region” of the East of England, comprises six historic Counties.
Seven MEPs are elected every five years on a Party “list” system.
Seats are allocated according to the number of votes each PARTY gets.
In June 2014 3 Conservatives, 3 UKIP and 1 Labour MEP were elected.John was 4th on the Conservative Party list.
In July 2017 John was returned as an MEP upon the resignation of Vicky Ford MEP, who had been elected as MP for Chelmsford.
In the 2016 referendum 3,328,983 people voted in the East of England.
56.3% voted to LEAVE and 43.5% Voted to REMAIN.
That was a majority to LEAVE of approaching half a million voters.
